BetterMeno is Finnish online clinic specializing in menopause care. All our consultations are via video.

Who we are

The company’s founding duo is Specialist in Gynaeology and Obstetrics, M.D. Leena Väisälä, the company’s Medical Director, and Minna Wahlberg, CEO. Leena has years of experience of menopausal patients as a gynaecologist. In addition to that, she has gone through the latest menopause research data when she wrote the book, Virtaa vaihdevuosiin, with journalist Leeni Peltonen. She herself has hardly experienced menopausal symptoms, as she has been taking effective hormone therapy for several years now.

Minna has 20 years of experience in productising and commercialising consumer products and services at Nokia, Polar Electro, Fibrux and most recently HMD Global in London. Minna has experienced menopause harder and after first trying for a couple of years to treat herself by natural means without result, she started hormone replacement therapy about 2 years ago, that’s when the symptoms eased. Minna’s symptoms were multidimensional and she came to the conclusion that HRT alone does not help a woman to rehabilitate from the many effects of menopausal symptoms, so the idea of setting up a holistic menopause clinic was born.

In addition to the gynecologist, the multidisciplinary care team includes menopause nurse Mari Päiväniemi, nutrition expert Annukka Lantto, physiotherapist and fitness coach Riikka Berg, sexual therapist Veera Mäkinen and life coach Päivi Suvanto.

The entire care team is motivated and specially trained to know the characteristics of menopause. All the professionals in the team have undergone menopausal training by the leading doctor, gynecologist Leena Väisälä.

The diagnosis and monitoring of menopausal symptoms, as well as the planning and implementation of hormone therapy, for example, do not require gynecological examination, so they go well with online consultation. If you have unexplained bleeding, or other gynecological problems, we recommend that you first visit doctor’s office personally. Likewise, we will refer you to a doctor’s office if you develop symptoms or need for treatment for a new illness that requires examination or treatment during the interview or treatment. Our doctors also have the opportunity to make a referral for special medical care if the need arises.

At BetterMeno, we offer menopause expertise of several different professionals. You can book an appointment directly with a gynecologist, menopause nurse or nutrition expert. You can also choose a care package that includes consultations from each of them.

Purchase

Select and purchase a care service via BetterMeno webshop (currently in Finnish only).

The invoice consists of the expert’s fee, the service fee according to the price list and the Kanta fee, which covers the costs of the national patient archive and the e-prescription.

Kela compensation
The price before Kela compensation is stated for the service. Please note that it is not possible to obtain Kela compensation for all services or it may only be possible to get Kela compensation with doctor’s referral.

Webshop accepts several payment methods.
Through the Visma Pay service, you can pay with online banking IDs, mobile wallets and several payment cards (credit / debit).
If you wish, we can also send you a bill after the appointment, in which case a 10 € billing surcharge will be added to the price.
The wellness benefit of ePassi can pay also for the gynaecology.

ePassi appears in the online store at checkout when you pay. When paying with ePassi, make sure that the ePassi balance is for the full amount of the order. You can top up your balance with your own money to cover the full amount of your order. However, this must be done before payment is made in the online store.

The booking and cancellation of the booked time

The booking and cancellation of the booked time is done through the Patientsky app.
The PatientSky mobile app supports both iOS and Android operating systems. The application is available in the following languages: English, Finnish and Swedish.

How to download the application:

When the download is complete, you can open the application and register. Delays and cancellations and unused time: The booked time can be canceled free of charge 24 hours before the start of the consultation time via the PatientSky mobile application. Unused time will be charged at the normal rate and late cancellation will be charged 50% of the normal rate.

Online consultation

Consultation takes place in the Patientsky app via secure video appointment that requires strong authentication.

  1. Log in to the PatientSky application following the instructions in the application
  2. On the front page, you will see your future appointments under the heading “Current Bookings”
  3. For a consultation, the “Start” button is activated shortly before the start of the time
  4. Press “Start” and wait for the professional to join the video consultation
  5. You can stop video reception by pressing the red handset button

For video consultation, you need a smartphone with a camera and microphone. Video consultation requires an internet connection. It is recommended that you have external headphones and tested them before the consultation.

Information security

The video consultation platform requires a verified login for the first time. We use an eRA patient information system in which your patient information is recorded.

Before the first appointment, we ask you to fill out a patient information transfer form at Navisec Health. You will receive a link to this by email at the time of order confirmation.
